Ich beschäftige mich seit Jahrzehnten mit diesem Nachnamen, aber die Bedeutung von Freund findet man nur in der Türkei, nicht in Deutschland. Dost bedeutet „Kräutersammler“.

Das Wort selbst bedeutet „Bündel“ oder „Strauch“, bezieht sich auf Oregano oder wilden Thymian und ist ein Spitzname für eine Person, die sich dem Sammeln von Kräutern widmet!!!
