Lifelines in Genes: A Deep Dive into the Origins and Journey of the Hudgens Surname
Family name Hudgens
The iGENEA DNA test results have offered insight into the ancestry of the surname Hudgens. The findings associate the Hudgens with R1b and E1b1b haplogroups, connecting the roots back to the Celts, Ashkenazi Jews, and great migration waves between Eurasia and the British Isles.
The results of my iGENEA DNA test have rendered some compelling findings about my heritage and, more specifically, the origins and history of the surname Hudgens. The Hudgens surname, as revealed, is ingrained with a rich tapestry of cultures, diasporas, and migrations.
Starting with the paternal lineage, the Hudgens line has deep connections to the R1b haplogroup, a genetic grouping predominantly found among Western Europeans. This group appears to have traced back to the ancient Celts, cementing Hudgens' roots in Celtic culture.
The R1b haplogroup led me on a journey around 12,000 years back to the Upper Palaeolithic times. It indicated a high volume of ancestry from the British Isles. Coming as a surprise, it suggested that my ancestors may have been part of the massive Celtic diaspora from the British Isles to regions worldwide.
Turning to the maternal lineage, a Haplogroup H was found, a lineage that is ubiquitous across Western Eurasia. The origins of Haplogroup H can be traced to the Near East and it suggests a journey from the Near East toward Europe during the height of the Ice Age. This paints an intriguing picture of the Hudgens as a part of a significant migration wave.
In terms of origin, Hudgens can be geographically linked to the British Isles and more specifically England. This was expected. What was surprising, however, was the detectable Jewish ancestry, indicated by the presence of the E1b1b haplogroup. This haplogroup is primarily found among Ashkenazi Jews.
What is exciting about the results is the rich tapestry of cultures and epochs they've unveiled. From the ancient Celts to the Ashkenazi Jews, the name Hudgens carries strands of human history dating back thousands of years to times of major migration and cultural exchange. In short, the DNA test has opened a deeper perspective on my ancestry, and the Hudgens name's significant role.
