I recently decided to dive into my genealogy using the iGENEA DNA test and I must admit, it’s been quite a journey. The process has been relatively easy, starting with a simple cheek swab sent through the mail. The results have unlocked a plethora of previously unknown information about my surname, Kürschner, and connected me with a global network of individuals sharing the same roots.
My surname, Kürschner, was originally a professional title in German-speaking countries referring to a furrier or a person who designs, manufactures, or sells fur products. The iGENEA DNA test didn't only confirm this but offered more extensive insight into the geographical history and lineage associated with the name. It traced the origin of the Kürschner name back to Central Europe, mainly Germany and Austria with a surprising link to Switzerland. It was an enlightening revelation that added a new dimension to how I perceived my surname and my past.
