Unveiling My Root Story: Rediscovering the Renaudins through DNA Testing at iGENEA
Family name Renaudin
How much can a DNA test reveal? I was skeptical, unprepared for the unearthed truths about my ancestors from the Renaudin family line that iGENEA revealed. It led me on a surprise journey of self-reflection and rediscovery.
When I sent in my iGENEA test kit, I confess; I treated the entire process with a degree of skepticism. I was already well-versed in the history of my ancestors, the Renaudin family, and I was unsure of what more a DNA test could reveal. However, the findings managed to surprise me, reshaping my perception of my lineage and my individual self.
I always knew that the Renaudins were a line of French descent. Our family history, passed down through generations, was relatively detailed: tales of ancestors who worked as tailors, builders, farmers. Ordinary lives, lived with the occasional brush of history – the French Revolution, the World Wars. But the iGENEA test results threw a curveball that I had not anticipated.
The test revealed an unexpected source of ancestry: an unmistakable Middle-Eastern DNA lineage, something completely unanticipated. Instantly, the scope of my family's history appeared so much broader. I found myself imagining the ancestors that my family never spoke about, the pioneers of our lineage who crossed continents, the degree of courage that must have taken.
I spent weeks researching Middle-Eastern history, trying to find a possible link to our family. The discovery left me with more questions than answers. When did this migration occur? What compelled the first Renaudin to embark on it? Finding an answer seems as elusive as the wind, yet the pursuit of it is fascinating.
It is awe-inspiring to think of the bravery my ancestors must have possessed, crossing borders and leaving familiar lands behind. It has also made me look at myself differently. The revelation has stirred within me feelings of wanderlust and restlessness. I find myself dreaming about my ancestor's lands, feeling an intense yearning to explore the unknown.
Beyond the realms of family history, I find that my understanding of myself has shifted. Understanding that the Renaudins were, at some point, travelers, adventurers even, makes me construe my present life in a different light. I feel a sense of adventurous spirit that I've never recognized in myself.
While I delved into the process with uncertainty, my experience with the iGENEA test was transformative. It truly reshaped my perspective of my ancestors, as well as how I perceive my traits, inclinations, and dreams in the weave of genetic influences.
